VaMPiRE Clinical Trial Gains Momentum: Q3 Recruitment Targets within Reach

Less than a year into the clinical trial participation recruitment, VaMPiRE is on track to meet its target.

All five of our clinical partners are actively recruiting participants, and three have already reached their Q3 recruitment targets. Each partner is working toward enrolling 60 Parkinson’s disease (PD) patients and 60 non-PD participants for the control group.

Thanks to the outstanding commitment of our clinical teams, VaMPiRE has already enrolled 278 PD patients and 299 control participants in the clinical trial in less than 10 months. This strong momentum highlights both the dedication of our partners and the growing interest in advancing Parkinson’s research.

The participation of PD patients and non-PD control group members is crucial to the validation of our hypothesis. After joining the program, participants will be part of a 24-month study. Upon enrollment, they will be assessed for eligibility, receive a clinical interview, a full assessment, and a blood extraction. For the following 21 months, they will receive a follow-up survey every three months via phone, sharing updates on their health condition and any potential progression of PD. The final visit takes place at the end of the 24-month period, where participants will receive a clinical interview and assessment, and PD patients will be invited to provide a further blood sample.

This steady progress is a testament to the dedication of our clinical partners and the willingness of patients and volunteers across Europe to contribute to cutting-edge research. Each new enrolment brings us one step closer to understanding the early biomarkers of Parkinson’s disease, and ultimately, to better tools for diagnosis and intervention.

If you or someone you know may be interested in taking part, volunteers can join the clinical trial at any of our clinical sites in Italy (IGEA, Milan; Sapienza Università di Roma, Rome), Greece (Papanikolaou Hospital, Thessaloniki), Poland (Institute of Psychiatry and Neurology, Warsaw), and Spain (Parkinson Madrid, Madrid).
