APM Promotes the VaMPiRE Project with Enthusiasm in November

November 2025 was a busy and exciting month for Asociación Parkinson Madrid (APM), as the organization actively promoted the VaMPiRE project at three major events!

On November 3, Laura Carrasco, Director of APM, presented the VaMPiRE project during the panel discussion “Parkinson’s Disease: What Do We Know?” held at the Ateneo de Madrid as part of Madrid Science and Innovation Week.

This session was part of the Science and Health program, a series of panel discussions on neurodegenerative diseases including Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, and ALS. Mrs. Carrasco joined neurologists Justo García de Yébenes, Pedro García Ruiz Espiga, Ana Rojo Sebastián, and José Luis López-Sendón Moreno to explore topics such as Parkinson’s disease progression over the past two decades, premorbid personality traits, and both pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical treatment approaches.

Approximately 40 participants attended, including people living with Parkinson’s, caregivers, healthcare professionals, researchers, and students, creating an engaging and informative discussion environment.

Two weeks later, on November 17, APM hosted the annual VaMPiRE project information meeting for its professionals. Between 50 and 70 staff members attended this internal dissemination and training session, which highlighted the project’s objectives, progress, and key aspects. Participants included physiotherapists, speech and occupational therapists, psychologists, music therapists, and administrative staff.

On the same day, Mrs. Carrasco also participated in a roundtable discussion on Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) and Patient-Reported Experience Measures (PREMs), hosted by the PORIB Foundation in collaboration with Carlos III University of Madrid.

During the discussion, she emphasized the importance of rigorous methodology in clinical research, stating,“we must know how to measure and use an appropriate methodology with the aim of improvement. What is not measured cannot be improved.”

A big thank you to APM for their dedication and commitment to the VaMPiRE project. We look forward to seeing more of their excellent work in the year ahead!
